Coffee Away
About This Spot
Stepping up to Coffee Away feels like finding a quiet little pause on St Helens’ bustling main street. This unassuming takeaway spot hums with a gentle energy—a brief, comforting stop where the pace slows just enough to savor a carefully brewed coffee. There may not be indoor seating here, but a few inviting benches with cushions just outside offer a simple place to linger, catch a breath, and watch the town’s rhythm unfold.
There’s something quietly joyful about the way the team behind the counter moves through their craft—friendly smiles paired with the reassuring hum of the espresso machine. The coffee itself carries a familiar warmth, the kind that fits perfectly in your hand on a crisp Tasmanian morning or an afternoon stroll. Regulars gravitate here for that reliable, unpretentious hit of comfort—a place where the coffee feels made for everyday moments rather than grand occasions.
Visitors often find themselves drawn to the little details, like the playful design on their takeaway cups or the unexpected treat of a biscuit alongside their flat white. It’s the kind of spot where ordinary routines get a bit of quiet celebration, and the act of grabbing a coffee becomes a small human connection—a brief exchange of cheer before moving on with your day.
While it’s a no-frills stop, the easy parking nearby and the convenient location make Coffee Away a natural pit stop whether you’re a local popping in for a familiar flavor or a traveler passing through. The atmosphere—warm, approachable, and modestly vibrant—makes this coffee shack a genuine slice of community life in St Helens.

Great little takeaway spot on St Helens' main street that is very popular. While there isn't an indoor seating area available, you can drink your coffees at the benches nearby. It is in a very handy location if you want to grab a quick and tasty coffee.

Hole in the wall cafes are my favourite, especially when there is great coffee. Pleased to say that yes, the coffee was good. I also liked the cup. Fun and vibrant.

A popular place for a coffee stop in St Helens, especially for the locals. Flat white had a pleasant flavour, but only comes in takeaway cups & was rather weak even with the double shot. Seating is on a couple of box benches outside only. Pleasant service

Great hole in the wall coffee shop. Couple of benches with cushions outside. Staff is friendly and helpful. Quick stop when driving through st Helens, easy parking at IGA's large parking lot. Enjoy

This is a take-away coffee shop on Cecilia Street just next to the War Memorial park in the St. Helens town centre. They are open from 8am to 2pm daily and make up strong, good coffee. There are a few light food items that you can pick up as well. I stopped by for a macchiato recently and was happy with what was served. Bold espresso flavour, tempted subtly with a touch of milk and foam for texture. This was a nice macchiato, one I'd be happy to stop by and pick up again.

Accepts take your own cups but also has the cutest disposable cups. The lady who served us was lovely and was clearly very passionate about the coffee. The coffee was a good amount of bitterness with a nutty flavour. Had an oat muesli bar (can't recall the fancy name) it was delicious, almond croissant was also delish. Definitely recommend!

Great coffee, lovely and quick service. Those of us who drink espresso or long black know a good brew and this was one of the best I sampled in Lutruwita. Recommended!
